Character Blog #2

Dana, a 15 year old girl is faced with all of those traits that we fear the most. Poorness, no where to sleep, to one to turn to, and so much more. The stress is tremendous. She could go back home to the abusive life of her family with her step dad, mother and little sister, or she could try to hold out on poverty and see how things turn out. She tries to hold out on the streets and earn an honest living any way possible. trying to avoid begging and panhandling as much as possible seeing as it is illegal, she turns to trying to draw for the public, accepting any donation's that she can take in order to survive and pull herself and her friends off the street.

Her weaknesses are so visible. She is weakened by the thought of life without her friends, how life would turn out without them at her side and without their support, life away from her family and how much she misses her sister and mother. Her main weakness is thoughts of the past. At times she will break down and cry just at the thought of her family and the way things used to be. She misses them extremely, but that is a life she tells herself that she cannot go back to. She cannot take the physical and emotional maltreatment. This isn't an option.

Do you think that the decision's that Dana has chosen are correct or that there is another solution? Maybe she can sit down with her family and discuss the problems at hand. What is your opinion and solution?

  1. I think that Dana should try to talk to her family so she wont have to go through anymore pain and suffering anymore. If she tries to talk to her family maybe her life can get turned around.

  2. I think that she should try and work things out with her parents and see how things go. If after a while of being home tho she does not see any changes in her parents behaivor then she can choose to go back on the streets or try moving in with a friend. Before she even moved out she should have tried to talk to her friends to get advice and maybe they could have helped her find a place to stay instead of the streets.

  3. I think that Dana should talk to her family and let them know how she is feeling. Its better to try then to not do anything about it and wonder if they would ever change. :)

  4. I think that there is another alternative to living on the streets, she doesn't have to go back to her abusive step father but she could find some help from the police or child services.
